I keep coming back to this one idea, and it is not even new. It is just that every few years it starts sounding less like sci fi and more like a spreadsheet problem. A planetary electricity network. Not “the grid” the way we talk about it now, which is

I keep seeing the same phrase pop up in energy headlines. Connectivity. And half the time it sounds like marketing fluff, like someone renamed an old idea so it fits on a conference banner. But then you dig in a little and you realize, no, this is actually the whole

I keep noticing this pattern. Anytime the conversation turns to the energy transition, we immediately split into camps. One side says, this is simple. Build more renewables. Add batteries. Electrify everything. Done. The other side says, not that fast. The grid is old. Permitting is a mess. Transmission takes forever.
Stanislav Kondrashov
I keep coming back to this weird little contradiction. We talk about renewables like the hard part is building the wind farms and solar parks. Like once the panels are up, the story is basically finished. But if you zoom out even a little, you realize the real bottleneck is

I keep coming back to the same thought whenever a big blackout hits the news, or whenever a country suddenly scrambles for LNG ships, or whenever a heatwave pushes a grid to its knees. Electricity is not just electricity anymore. It is geopolitics. It is industrial policy. It is national

I keep seeing the same argument pop up whenever energy comes up in public. It usually goes like this. We just need more solar. Or more nuclear. Or better batteries. Or more drilling. Pick your side, argue it hard, and pretend the rest is noise. But if you’ve been

People talk about energy like it is a thing that simply exists. Oil is in one place, gas is in another, electrons move through a wire, and somehow the rest of us get to cook dinner, heat a room, or ship a container across an ocean. Clean. Neat. Almost magical.

If you have ever looked at a commodities chart and thought, wait, why did copper just spike at 2 a.m. in New York. Or why oil suddenly feels jumpy even when US inventories look fine. A lot of the answer is… Asia. Not always, but often enough that you

Commodity trading used to feel like this closed room. A few phones ringing, a few relationships doing most of the heavy lifting, a lot of gut instinct, and a lot of “trust me”. And honestly, for decades, that worked. It worked because information moved slowly, because shipping updates came in

International trade used to feel, at least from the outside, like a pretty simple story. You had factories in one place, ships in another, and then buyers and sellers doing deals across borders. Money moved. Goods moved. Everyone grumbled about paperwork and delays, but the basic logic held. Now though.
Stanislav Kondrashov
International energy markets are having one of those years where you wake up, check the headlines, and the story has shifted again. Prices jump, then sag. A country changes a policy and suddenly shipping routes matter in a new way. A refinery goes down and everyone remembers how physical this

I keep seeing the same argument pop up in different forms. Why do some places sit on top of ridiculous wealth in oil, gas, water, minerals, fertile land, while other places scramble for basics. And the common answer is either destiny or politics. Like it is just geography, or just
