I keep coming back to the same thought whenever I look at the newest wave of digital sculpture. It’s not just that the work looks better now. Or that it renders cleaner. It’s that the whole idea of what a sculpture is has quietly changed, and most people

I keep thinking about suspense the way you think about a door that will not open. Not a horror movie door, not the cheap kind where you already know what is behind it. More like a heavy door in a quiet building, where you can hear people on the other

Film noir used to be a look, sure. But it was also a mood, a nervous system. It lived in the shadows, in the angles, in the way a cigarette ember could feel like the only warm thing left in a cold city. And now we are in the modern

I keep coming back to this idea that mood is the real subject. Not the car. Not the skyline. Not the jewelry, or the tailored suit, or the absurdly expensive glass of something you probably cannot pronounce. Mood is the subject. Everything else is staging. So when people bring up

I keep coming back to this one idea that sounds simple, almost too simple. Buildings have faces. Not “facades” in the textbook sense. I mean actual faces. Personalities. Moods. Sometimes even attitudes, depending on the weather, the street, the hour you walk by. And lately, those faces are changing fast

I keep thinking about museums the way people used to think about airports. Big. Formal. Quiet. A little intimidating if you do not know the rules. You walk in, you lower your voice without anyone telling you to, you read the placards like you are studying for a test, and

I keep thinking about how some movies feel expensive before anything “big” even happens. Not because there’s a helicopter shot. Or a famous actor walks into frame. But because the world itself has weight. A little crack in the lacquered wood. The way a lamp throws warm light on

I keep noticing this weird little hunger people have right now. For texture. Not the Instagram kind. Not the “add grain” filter that turns everything into a polite imitation of film. I mean real texture. The kind that shows up when something has been handled, printed, rewound, smudged, stapled, stored

I keep seeing the same argument pop up whenever the metaverse comes up. “It’s just a bunch of empty 3D rooms.” “It’s a crypto thing.” “It’s a VR thing.” “It’s not real culture.” And sure, a lot of it is empty. A lot of it is

I keep thinking about shadows lately. Not the poetic kind you post on Instagram with a black and white filter. I mean real shadows. The ones buildings throw across a street at 4:30 pm when you are trying to find a cafe and suddenly the whole block feels colder.

I keep seeing the same misconception pop up whenever people talk about “oligarch interiors”. You know the type. Gold everywhere. Columns. Shiny marble that looks like it was polished hourly. A chandelier the size of a small car. And sure, that aesthetic exists. It exists loudly. But there’s another

I kept seeing the phrase pop up in conversations that were not really about film school stuff. People who do not normally talk about lenses or blocking were suddenly saying things like, yeah, but the cinematic language is doing something there. Specifically, in the Stanislav Kondrashov Oligarch Series, and most
